It’s the end of the week, and tomorrow our campers and counselors will be returning from Hume Lake Camp. Tonight will be the last opportunity for campers to hear from the speaker and hang out with the friends they’ve made during the week. Please pray for the Spirit to work in a might way during the day, and for the campers to be receptive to what God has to say to them. Also, pray for safety as they drive home tomorrow. Praise God for the awesome opportunity we have every year to be a part of this potentially life-changing event!
Thanks!

Sunday is Baptism Day! Our first summer baptism will begin in the Pinecrest Ampitheatre at 4:00 as we listen to the testimonies of 20 people who will then proclaim their faith through the ritual of baptism in the chilly waters of Pinecrest Lake-one of the most beautiful areas of all God’s creation-come join us for this always special celebration.

Today, I would like to ask for your prayers for Ev and her family. After returning last Sunday from 10 days in Southern CA with her Mom , she flew down again yesterday afternoon because Hospice folks said they did not expect her to live more than a couple of days. She recently turned 94 and has lived a good, full life with Christ at the center of all she has done. It was her faithful witness when Ev’s Dad was not yet a Christian that introduced Ev to Jesus. Your prayers for our family would be appreciated…and I hope to see you Independence Day morning at either our 8:00 or 9:30 service! (Remember, no 11:00 service this week.) My tentative plan is to drive down immediately after the 9:30 service on Sunday.

Sunday is a big day for SBC that mostly goes unnoticed! It is an important day for us because it closes another fiscal year at SBC. It is a significant day of blessing for us because God has graciously and generously provided through His people for the needs of SBC this last year. Our General Offering giving is within $38,000 of fully meeting our annual budget of almost $1.300,000. When our Designated Giving is included it has been one of our largest giving years. In a year where we have faced many challenging economic realities this becomes a particular praise for our church family. We will be doing this at our Congregational Meeting on Sunday at 7:00pm. Come join us! We will also be looking at our vision for the new year both financially and in our ministry priorities. And…if you want to help us fully meet our 09/10 budget your last Sunday gifts are welcomed and appreciated!

The “Buzz” around SBC these days is all about the “Rockin’ Rainforest Kids’ Week” beginning next Monday! This is one of the greatest weeks of SBC summer ministry, and one of the greatest weeks of Children’s Ministry all year. Over 100 leaders are trained, resourced, and prayed-up ready to go…kids are being invited throughout the community…the weather promises to be perfect…so join the team and volunteer to help where needed, bring some last minute supplies, invite some children to attend, and especially PRAY that God will once again work in surprising and wonderful ways in the lives of many children through the Rockin’ Rainforest!

Please pray for Nila Stevenson and family in the loss of her mom in the tragic accident that occurred earlier this week on Hwy. 108. We will be having a memorial service for Audrey Vest on Saturday at Heuton’s at 1:00. The young driver of the vehicle remains in critical condition. Your prayers would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.

Today launches our Faith In Action Weekend. I know one person putting their “FIA” today by completing a special project for a friend. Saturday, one of our “official” weedeating projects takes place where the point person is praying that not only the weeds get cut down but that people putting their “FIA” will be a positive witness to the homeowner who tends to be negative towards Christians. And Sunday…well, everything from weedeating to ramp building to school clean-up to a blood drive to ATCAA and InterFaith teams to painting to repair jobs to trash removal to elderly visitation to making items to sell for Courage House to…well, you name it, and this FIA Sunday someone from SBC may well be doing it in our community in the name of Jesus. Pray that this FIA Sunday not only successfully concludes our Becoming A Good Samaritan series, but also begins a new level of outreach to those in need across our streets…and around our world. Thanks to each one who is putting their FIA!

It’s Quito Yard Sale Time! What a great run we have had during our Becoming A Good Samaritan series, reaching out to the needy in our world…across the street and around the world! Pray and participate this weekend in raising funds for the For His Children orphanage in Ecuador. They are a model ministry of Christ reaching out to the most needy and neglected in our world and working to establish them in loving families…sounds like God’s work. This weekend, we conclude our Becoming A Good Samaritan message series before celebrating all we’ve learned together during our Faith In Action weekend on May 30, when we don’t just “go to church” but “be the church” serving our community.
