One of the joys of ministry is the privilege of sharing in and celebrating the ministries of others. One way we do that at SBC is through various church family members being involved in ministering to the needs of orphans around the world.
Tim and Kathy Atchley just returned from orphanage work in the Philippines. They shared last Sunday, with passion and tears, the joys of a recent trip. Pat Day leads an organization called ROR (Russian Orphan Rescue). I just returned from a Board meeting, and rejoice in the lives that are being supported through this outreach. Many of our church family have worked personally at For His Children in Ecuador. All of these groups are planning further ministry in 2010 that we are invited to participate in also! This, the Bible says, is “the religion that God accepts” (James 1:27). I hope you will share the joy of celebrating what God is doing, and maybe next year being His hands and feet in this “true religion” somewhere in our world.
