DSC_3095Steve Osborn, Senior Pastor

Job description: To provide vision and direction in helping SBC fulfill our mission to “introduce people to Jesus and together become more like Him”.

Tell us a story of what you’ve seen God do through your ministry: One of the great things that comes with a little bit of longevity is to see what God has done through people into whose lives we have poured ours. From vocational and tent-making ministries in exotic overseas locales, to people making a difference in the marketplace or their chosen professions, to people who have established strong marriages and homes though they grew up in chaos and confusion, it’s a privilege to experience the “joy” of people we’ve loved and walked with “walking in the truth.”

DO YOU PREFER…

  • Beach or mountains? Beach. Still some Hawaii left in me.
  • PC or Mac? My father was a career IBM guy, so I prefer computers to Macs.
  • Sports or arts? Sports.
  • Creative or administrative? Creative.
  • Skinny jeans or comfortable ones? Really? You don’t want to see that…

RANDOMS…

  • Most embarrassing moment… Hmm, so many to choose from. I’m at a conference with Cru, trying to act cool for the ladies (one of whom was Debbie, though we were not yet an item). I’m leaning back in my chair, which is hooked to several other chairs, listening to the speaker in a room with a thousand people. You know where this is going – I fall back, and take a row of chairs with me. They are metal. They are loud. All that is visible to those around me are my now upward pointing feet, and my upward pointing left arm, casted to protect my recently broken wrist. My future wife cried with laughter. I crawled away with no cool left in the tank.
  • The best movie of all time is clearly… The Lord of the Rings trilogy.
  • Everyone should read… The Bible, in its entirety.
  • Favorite worship song… Hymns: Be Thou My Vision; And Can It Be? Contemporary: 10,000 Reasons; Your Great Name

Job description: leading and directing teams that develop and provide ministry for infant through 6th grade kids. Ministering to the hearts of the children and parents as they seek to know and follow Jesus.

Tell us a story of what you’ve seen God do through your ministry: One of the blessings of being at Sierra Bible for many years is the opportunity to see children come to faith, grow in their faith and return to serve as adults in the same ministry that they grew up in. We have a multi-generational ministry to children at Sierra Bible serving and leading the next generation to Jesus Christ.

DO YOU PREFER…

  • Beach or mountains? Depends, I love both!
  • PC or Mac? Mac
  • Sports or arts? I love both
  • Creative or administrative? Administration is my busy work and creativity is my fuel.
  • Skinny jeans or comfortable ones? Skinny but comfy is becoming far more practical.

RANDOMS…

  • Most embarrassing moment? I have so many! Probably jumping into a pool with the rest of the staff.
  • The best movie of all time is clearly… At the top of my list would be Frozen
  • Everyone should read… Living from the heart that Jesus gave you, by James G. Friesen

DSC_3064Nate Levering, Pastor of Connections and Compassion

Job description: Love. It is my privilege to make simple and clear the pathways for connection with our church campus, church body and church mission. I get to help people fall more in love with Jesus, each other, and our community.

Tell us a story of what you’ve seen God do through your ministry: I was reminded just recently of a story that has repeated itself a number of times throughout the years. This time, the context was marriage counseling. As we sat on our couches and shared life, I asked the young lady about her story. “Most people thought I would never get married,” she started. “I’m a hard person. I don’t trust people easily. I don’t want to hurt them like I’ve been hurt…” Growing up with a homeless dad in a homeless shelter creates a certain kind of person. “I hadn’t been shown love,” she admitted. Then one day, she came to youth group. Then one day, she met Jesus. “It was the church and Jesus Himself that opened me to others, to love, and now I’m getting married.”

DO YOU PREFER…

  • Beach or mountains? The lake — with my family and waterski.
  • PC or Mac! Whatever works!
  • Sports or arts? I like to create new ways of winning.
  • Skinny jeans or comfortable ones? Shorts and flip-flops.

RANDOMS…

  • Most embarrassing moment? I would be happy to share in person.

  • Beach or mountains? Mountains
  • PC or Mac? Yes
  • Sports or arts? Sports
  • Creative or administrative? Administrative
  • Skinny jeans or comfortable ones? The ones with a hammer loop and utility pockets.

DSC_3101Michael Roberson, Pastor of Worship Ministries

Job description: to equip and encourage teams to lead our church family in engaging encounters of worship.

Tell us a story of what you’ve seen God do through your ministry: Recently I had conversation with a young mom after a worship service. Her life story is an amazing and amazingly difficult one, yet she came to church anticipating something hopeful. She felt as though the service was just for her that day. The message, the music, the connections with people, all led her to a new understanding of who God is and His presence in her life.

  • Sports or arts? Arts
  • Creative or administrative? Creatively administrative!

Tell us a story of what you’ve seen God do through your ministry: Sitting down in a restaurant at 7:30 in the morning having a Bible study with a few students, and watching God begin to change their lives before my eyes. JH and HS students are making life-long decisions, and it is exciting to see them choose to make their life all about Jesus.
