Faith in Action
Put Your Faith In Action in 2010 making a difference
in the heart of San Francisco participating in City Impact’s
“Build A Classroom-Build a Future” project
CHALLENGE: Remodel the existing SF Mission Building into a Christian School with 12 classrooms for 300+ children in the Tenderloin.
GOOD NEWS: All materials have already been donated, and funding is available for schooling.
NEED: LOTS of skilled and unskilled construction workers. Food distribution and children’s program options are available for families. We are hoping for an additional 75 people to join our 25 students on their monthly trip.
OPPORTUNITY: We have selected work periods that coincide with our monthly youth trips. You can work the entire period, or go down Friday (nearby hotel arrangements are available), or travel by car with the youth bus leaving Saturday at 7:00am and returning by 7:00pm.
SBC FIA 2010 SF Dates:
March 17-20
April 14-17
THE PLAN:
1. Meet at Sierra Bible on each work day and drive down with the youth bus. We will meet at 7:00 and arrive around 10:00. We will work until 4:00 and then return home. You will need to bring any tools that you are handy at using…and don’t forget a lunch!
2. If you are interested in going the night before, you can make reservations at the Emeryville Extended Stay. If you mention City Impact when booking, the cost will be $59.00 single and $69.00 double occupancy. The number is 510-923-1481. There is an IHOP and a Chevys in the hotel parking lot.
We never know the jobs we will be doing until the week of our trip as the need is ALWAYS changing – so plan on anything.
Children of the World Concert
Emily Hamilton, one of our SBC kids, is inviting all of us to the Children of the World Concert at Sonora High School…
“I am proud to announce that for my Senior Project I am bringing The Worlds Children’s Choir From Africa to Sonora. I have attached a flyer with the concert information.
All the Money raised from this event will help dig a well in Africa. Did you know that 6,000 children died today from drinking bad water. In many villages the water is full of bacteria, killing more children each year than war, malaria, HIV/AIDS and traffic accidents. One well can provide 1,000 fresh water everyday for twenty years.
I BELIEVE that my generation can make a change, and I am asking you to join with me and change the life of a small child today.
