Meet Terri: A Friend for All
MEET TERRI: A FRIEND FOR ALL
My friends, new and old, this is Terri. You've seen her each and every Sunday, running between kitchens to make sure your coffee is ready or donuts are out. Behind the scenes, Terri is in the office making phone calls and scheduling the team who shakes your hand, slaps a name tag on you (with or without your returned enthusiasm ... we know who you are side-door enterers *ahem ahem*). She serves with such enthusiasm and love, as she infuses the Friendship Ministry with the joy of Jesus. As we read through Luke, the chapters are filled with sacrifice, promise and friendship so it was a no-brainer as to who we were introducing this week. It had to be Terri! And here she is:
1. When did you start attending Sierra Bible Church, and what brought you here?
We started in January of 2019. We were looking to attend a church and were told SBC was a good one. I had never attended church before.
2. Why did you decide to serve with the Friendship Ministry? How long have you been serving?
We were in the Starting Point class with Nate and Kathy and loved the teaching of both of them. I was looking for a place to serve and Friendship Coordinator sounded like a perfect fit. I love people, have a positive outlook and wanted to share my new found love of God with others.
I think I speak for many of us saying, thank you Nate and Kathy for plugging her in!
3. Many of us may not know that you have another day job as well. Tell us a little about working for the county?
I have worked for Tuolumne County Social Services in fraud for the past 4 years. I worked doing eligibility for public assistance benefits before that for 18 years. This has been very rewarding, heartbreaking and never boring due to the needs of people and changing regulations.
4. We often see your husband, Jesse, serving right alongside you and we are so grateful for that partnership. Tell us what your top two adventures have been.
It's an adventure every day!
5. How did the two of you meet anyway?
Jesse and I met working in a restaurant when we were teenagers. He is an adventure every day and always makes me laugh.
6. We have you and your team to thank for the donuts. If you could design a donut, what would it look like and taste like?
My perfect donut would be dark chocolate with no calories or sugar.
7. If you could compare yourself to an animal, what would it be?
I am like a Lion I think, friendly, stubborn, bossy and would help anyone in need.
