Meet Miss Vicky!
MEET MISS VICKY
You may know her and if you do, you certainly adore her. If you've stepped foot into Promiseland, our Kids Ministry building, you've seen her. It's the ONE and ONLY MISS VICKY WILLIAMS (*cue stadium cheering*) ...
How long have you lived in Tuolumne County?
21.5 years!
How long have you been a part of the SBC family?
Also 21.5 years! On staff for 4.5 of those.
Why did you decide to work with the SBC Kids Ministry?
I joke that I've been working here since I was 8 years old, but it's pretty true! I've always been involved in SBC Kids' Min in one way or another. In thinking about my future as a child, I knew I wanted to do something with kids based on my experience here. So when I came back after college and a job was opening, I was very excited to become part of the staff. (Photo below)
What are your top 3 favorite activities here in the county?
I love walking trails and adventures, coffee shop hangs (shout out to Revive and Mountain Coffee & Bakery), and stargazing on Full Moon or New Moon nights. (Basically anything I can take a dog and maybe a few friends.)
Tell us about Coco:
How much space do I have for this question?? Coco is my CHILD. Jk she’s my pup (with whom I am OBSESSED). I got her unexpectedly at a small 3 weeks old, thanks to some friends who got Coco’s sister. Together our pups are Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (Coco is short for Chocolate Factory, fun fact). She's now 7 months old and SO smart, spunky, stubborn, sweet, and spoiled!
What kinds of books do you enjoy reading? What's your current book and what would you recommend?
I’ll read anything that falls into the Classics category at least once. Right now I'm reading Alexander Hamilton and Under the Tuscan Sun. Some that stick in my memory are Jane Eyre, Little Women, Brave New World, The Time Machine, Harry Potter obviously. It might be easier to tell you which ones I was glad to finish haha. I also read Get Out of Your Head by Jennie Allen for a Bible study and gotta give it a plug. SO good y’all.
What is your coffee preference? (You know, in case someone wants to do a surprise drop off for you ...)
I try to mix it up but my go-to is a Maple Oat Milk Latte
What's the best part of Kids Ministries?
The kids! We can plan all sorts of activities and events, but it's watching the kids' reactions and interacting with them that makes it all so fun. The small things are my favorite. Tying bandanas around the heads of an entire small group of kids at VBS, chatting over melty-bead crafts about the girls' week on a Sunday morning, hearing their voices sing above the song track during worship time, when a little preschool buddy comes running down the hall to give a hug, animal races... I enjoy planning and organizing, but these kids remind me why it matters and why we do this thing called Kids' Ministry and why I love it so much here.

There we go, folks! That's our very own Miss Vicky (or Bicky, as some of the children lovingly call her) Williams. Be sure to say HI to her the next time you see her!
