Ministry Update: Caregiving Team
MINISTRY UPDATE: CAREGIVING TEAM
By caring for others, we build strength and hope in our community. Whether you're going in for surgery or at home recovering, suffering from ailments requiring you to stay home, walking through grief as a loved one has passed, or caring for a loved one (child or adult) suffering disease or disaster, our team is passionate to serve and pray over you.
I've been serving in different capacities within Sierra Bible Church for twelve years now and only recently realized that we have a Caregiving Team. Sometimes you hear the word, caregiving, and think nursing facility. Or at least I did. My exact thought was similar to, "Well I'm glad we have volunteers helping in those facilities". Little did I know ... I had NO idea what this team actually did! We currently have a team of thirteen congregational members who send flowers, deliver meals and mail cards to those in need. This team is so much more than what my initial thought was. These individuals are reaching into the homes and lives of those who are isolated by health concerns, impacted greatly by grief, and journeying through the daily chaos of how ailments are now impacting their lives. These team members serve humbly each week, taking the time to pray for specific needs, making phone calls to check in post-surgery or diagnosis, and more! Each week, the Caregiving list is updated and sent to the elders, pastoral staff and team for prayer and connection. We are incredibly grateful for this group of people and welcome anyone who would like to join.
If you would like to participate with this team by delivering flowers, sending cards or reaching out to connect, or if you have questions about this team, please email emilyt@sierrabible.com.
